Sofia Nangle is a New York based violinist who started her studies with Nina Crothers at age 4. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Boston University studying with Lucia Lin of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Sofia has held positions of principal second violin and concertmaster of the BU Symphony and Chamber orchestras, and performed at Symphony Hall in Boston. She has also worked with composers Gabriela Lena Frank and Christopher Cerrone, as well as being coached in chamber music by members of the Muir String Quartet and the Arneis String Quartet. She is now a Master’s student studying violin performance with Ann Setzer at Mannes School of Music. In her free time, she coaches young musicians at Chamber Music Central, and teaches violin and music theory lessons.
