William Popfinger is a contemporary Double Bassist, improviser and composer, based in NYC, currently studying with prominent chamber bassist Lizzie Burns at the Mannes School of Music. As a founding member of The Astra Collective, William has played Bass with the group since its founding in 2025. William is extremely passionate about newly composed repertoire and bringing audiences into a world of sound, color and texture. “I want to invite the listener into a new world of sound and present them an ethereal listening experience”. William holds a Bachelors Degree in Orchestral Performance from the Mannes School of music while currently pursuing a Masters in Orchestral Performance at the Mannes School of Music.
